Despite progress, maternal and infant mortality rates in Morocco are very high. In the alawite country, neonatal mortality reaches 66%, mainly due to complications and inadequate care during delivery or postpartum. The “Maternité des Orangers” hospital in Rabat, a health centre of reference in obstetrics, attends hundreds of births a year. A medical activity that in the West is considered little or no risk and still represents a high risk of mortality for Moroccan mothers and their babies. “Decisive Moment” is a tribute to all mothers and their child, but above all, to health personnel who strive to make that moment the safest and most beautiful in the life of many women and their new-born.
